If you prefer the old-style WordPress editing experience instead of the block-based Gutenberg editor, the Classic Editor is the perfect solution. It provides a simple, familiar interface similar to Microsoft Word, making content creation easy and distraction-free.
In this guide, you’ll learn how to install, activate, and use the Classic Editor in WordPress.
What is Classic Editor in WordPress?
WordPress introduced the block editor (Gutenberg) in version 5.0. However, many users still prefer the traditional editor interface. The Classic Editor restores the old WordPress editing screen with a simple toolbar and text area.
It works just like the previous WordPress editor, where you can:

Create links
-
Use categories and tags
-
Switch between Visual and Text (HTML) mode
